bowen - 2

After watching last Sunday’s Ravens-Bills showdown, I was ready to crown it the unquestioned Game of the Year. Shockingly, the Giants and Cowboys delivered an even more electrifying overtime thriller. Things started off hot on the opening kick; returner Gunner Olszewski took it back 60 yards, only to have it erased by a holding penalty. And that was just the beginning. Backup left tackle James Hudson, who's in for the injured Andrew Thomas, went on to set an NFL record for most penalties committed by a single player on one drive, each one wiping out positive gains by the offense. (James Hudson getting in the face of Giants O-line Coach/image via FOX) After settling for a field goal, Hudson was yanked in favor of rookie Marcus Mbow, and that’s when the Giants finally found their rhythm. From there, Russell Wilson started cooking. Russ threw his first TD of the season late in the second quarter with Malik Nabers going up and making a miraculous grab in the endzone.  From there, it wa...

they do this every year

Well, postgame blogs are back, and so are the Giants losing in the most embarrassing fashion possible in Week 1 of the NFL season. This game was the third consecutive opener where the Giants failed to score a single touchdown, something that was last done by the Detroit Lions in the 1940s. Not ideal. First off, credit to whoever runs the Giants’ PR department. Every offseason, they somehow convince us fans that the tide is finally turning, only for us to be humbled within minutes of turning on the TV in Week 1. The defense actually started strong against an elite Commanders offense. They held their own right up until linebacker Micah McFadden went down with a gruesome injury. The very next play, his backup Darius Muasau lost his man in coverage and gave up an easy touchdown to Zach Ertz. The Giants’ offense answered with a long drive, but what followed was one of the most pathetic sequences I’ve seen in years, which is saying something. Thanks to penalties, the Giants had seven straigh...

NFL 2025-26 Award Predictions

These are some of my favorite articles to write each year, as I love looking across the league and picking out who I think is due for a breakout season. This year, though, I’m adding a new wrinkle: betting odds. For each of my picks, I’ll include the current odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, along with an additional player who I don’t necessarily expect to win the award but has an outside shot based on their odds, and could help win you guys some money. So without further ado, let's get into it.  Comeback Player of the Year:   My Pick: Dak Prescott (+300) Throughout his career, Dak has been a walking 12-win (or playoff-caliber) quarterback when he's played full seasons. Prescott’s 2024 season was cut short after just eight games due to a season-ending hamstring injury. While I’m not sold on the rest of Dallas’ roster, especially their defense, the offense should light it up once again in 2025. The addition of George Pickens alongside CeeDee Lamb gives Dak another true weapon on th...

Houston is a Problem

In a wild NBA weekend, the Oklahoma City Thunder won the franchise's first-ever championship, Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles, and Kevin Durant was traded to the Rockets. As crazy as it sounds, the Durant news felt more important to me as an NBA fan than Game 7. The Thunder felt like a team of destiny all playoffs long, and after Haliburton went down, it all but solidified they’d become champs. But this article is focused on the next chapter of KD's career in H-Town. Yesterday afternoon, while on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York, Kevin Durant found out he had been traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, five second-round picks, Jalen Green, and NBA “villain” Dillon Brooks. (image via theringer.com) This marks the end of the big three of Booker, Beal, and Durant in Phoenix—yet another failed superteam on KD’s résumé. But this move to Houston feels different. Durant, who admitted Houston was at the top of his preferred destination li...

NFL MOCK DRAFT 2025

DOM'S NFL MOCK DRAFT 2025 (Image via NFL.com) 1. Tennessee Titans:   Cam Ward- QB, Miami  The Will Levis experiment in Tennessee failed last season, which led to the Titans holding the first overall pick in the draft. The team needs a QB, and Ward is the best one available. Although he may be a bit of a project, Ward has the intangibles to become a star QB in this league. I love his confidence and composure in the pocket, as well as his elusiveness when he gets free. An A+ pick for the Titans. 2. Cleveland Browns:   Travis Hunter- WR/CB, Colorado Hunter might be the best prospect the NFL has ever seen. Not only is he an elite wide receiver, but he has also become one of the top shutdown corners in all of college football. Although it's still uncertain which position he'll be drafted as, he is worthy of a top-five pick, regardless. I think he...

Top 3 Rookie QB Seasons Ever

As a Giants fan, I've been diving deep into research on which quarterback in this year's upcoming draft has the potential to become a star in the NFL quickly. This curiosity led me down a rabbit hole of great rookie quarterbacks, and I started looking back at some of the best rookie seasons in NFL history. So let's look at the top three that impressed me the most.  3. Dan Marino, Miami Dolphins (1983) Marino threw for 2,210 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions during his rookie campaign. After the starter, David Woodley, struggled in the first five weeks of the season Majaydrino took over and went 7-2 in nine starts. The Dolphins went on to go 12-4 during the regular season, winning the AFC East. After earning a first-round bye, they lost in the divisional round to the Seattle Seahawks. Had Marino played the whole season he likely would be higher on my list, and although the 20 TDs in 9 starts is impressive, it’s not as spectacular as what the other two guys ...
