short week, short memory

After a hard-fought win in Arizona Sunday, the Giants stayed on the West Coast in a quick turnaround for a game in San Fransisco Thursday Night. The G-Men went into this game without Saquon Barkley, who clarified before the game that he does indeed have a high ankle sprain, and their star left tackle Andrew Thomas who's dealing with a hamstring injury he sustained in week 1. The Niners on the other hand were coming in at 2-0 and looking like not only the best defensive team in the league but one of the most explosive offenses as well. Big Blue went into the game as 10.5-point underdogs, with the expectation being that the game would be a blowout. And those expectations were pretty on point.      However, in the first quarter, the Giants did do a good job of showing fight on the defensive side of the ball. They nearly intercepted Brock Purdy multiple times on the first few drives. Plus they did a nice job applying pressure to the young QB, with Kayvon...

they had us in the first half, not gonna lie

(image via @nygiants on Instagram)      The official New York Giants social media posted this image after yesterday's franchise-record 21-point comeback win in Arizona. And I think this is the perfect way to describe how all Giants fans felt on Sunday.      After their blowout loss to Dallas last week, Giants fans were hoping that Big Blue could put that game in the past in a 'get right' matchup against a beat-up Cardinals team. But after the first half Sunday, it appeared as if nothing had changed. The G-Men's zone defense looked like swiss cheese and was getting picked apart by the Josh Dobbs to Hollywood Brown connection. RB James Connor ran right through the d-line, and the offense somehow looked even worse than the week before. New York looked lost on both sides of the ball once again.     But in the second half, something changed. The defense played fast and hungry. Gang tackling receivers and stuffing the run at the line of scrimmage...

what was that?

The long-awaited first Sunday of the 2023 NFL Season concluded last night with a division rivalry game between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. The Giants being a surprise playoff team from last year had a lot of buzz going into the game looking to knock off Dallas for the first time since 2021. But that dream died pretty quickly for the G-Men on Sunday Night.       The game actually started quite promising for New York.  They put together a very solid drive getting all the way down to the Dallas 8-yard line by a combination of the legs of Saquon and Daniel Jones. An Andrew Thomas false start and a bad snap from the rookie center set the Giants up for a field goal that ended up being blocked and returned for a touchdown. And it just snowballed from there. On the following drive, a tipped ball of the hands of Barkley was picked off and also returned for six. From that point on the Giants couldn't get anything going on offense and...

NFL 2023-24 Award Predictions

Offensive Rookie of the Year:   Bijan Robinson There's a reason that the Atlanta Falcons, a team that had a 1,000-yard rusher last year, selected an RB with the 8th pick of the NFL Draft. Because he's special. In his three years at Texas, he put up 3410 rushing yards, 805 receiving yards, and 41 total touchdowns, He's the most well-rounded and talented college running back I have seen since Saquon Barkley came out in 2018, and I think he'll have an immediate impact on his offense just like SB did. Coming from Tennessee Arthur Smith knows how to run an offense around a workhorse back, and the combination of his play-calling creativity and Robinsons' abilities on the field (Photo by Kevin Sabitus/Getty Images) Defensive Rookie of the Year:   Will Anderson This is one of the easier choices for me when it comes to awards for 2023. Anderson had 34.5 sacks in 3 seasons with the Tide, in addition to that he had 58.5 tackles for loss. He was such a force on the D-line that ...
