sin city statement

In what was the Giants’ most important game in three years, they took on the Raiders in the 2025 Tank Bowl, a matchup where the loser would control the number one overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. In typical Giants fashion, with the top pick on the line, they played their best football of the season. The win drops New York to the number two pick in the draft order, but there is still a path back to the number one selection. A loss to Dallas next week for the Giants, paired with a Raiders win over a suddenly lowly Chiefs team, could still flip the order. While a loss might have helped the Giants add draft capital, this win still mattered. Even against a flawed Raiders team, there were legitimate positives. Jaxson Dart looked comfortable, the defense made timely, game-changing plays, and the special teams unit had its best performance of the year. As I mentioned last week, since the firing of Brian Daboll, Dart had struggled to rediscover the rhythm he showed earlier in the season. Yes...

ninety- "9" problems

At this point in the season, I cannot help but laugh when watching the Giants. You can feel it. All 53 players, the coaching staff, and it sometimes even feels like the owners are simply waiting for this season from hell to finally end. And honestly, that is the kind of football I expected to see on Sunday. Funny enough, this was some of the best football the Giants' defense played all season long. For the first time all year, the defense was swarming. They looked prepared for an opposing offense, bringing ball carriers down on first contact instead of allowing two or three broken tackles every play. They pressured the quarterback and read his eyes well enough to break up passes down the field. They even appeared to have their first pick-six since Christmas Day 2023, but it was wiped away when Abdul Carter was flagged for being offsides on the play. Luckily, the rest of the Giants' defensive line made up for the rookie mistake. With under 30 seconds left in the half, Brian Burn...

Sin City, Win City: The Knicks Hold the Cup

THE KNICKS HAVE WON A TROPHY! Last night, the Knicks took on the up-and-coming Spurs in the championship game of the third annual NBA Cup Tournament  in Las Vegas, and walked away with hardware. Sure, not the one that everyone who bleeds orange and blue wants to hold, but you still can't stop me from celebrating! (via @nyknicks on Instagram) After carrying the Knicks to the title game while averaging 33 points per Cup game , Jalen Brunson started slow against the elite defense of Stephon Castle. While Brunson didn’t dominate the scoreboard the way he had earlier in the tournament, he still finished with 25 points and made the shots that mattered most in the fourth quarter.  With that said, this game was ultimately won by New York’s bench . Brunson summed it up perfectly in his postgame interview, "OG Anunoby, Tyler Kolek, Jordan Clarkson, Mitchell Robinson, they played their ass off. Without them, we don’t win this sh*t.”  And yeah, he's absolutely right. Down 10 i...

a commanding sweep

The Giants getting swept by Washington isn’t something that happens often, but when it does, it’s a glaring sign that things are wrong, really, really wrong. The first half of this game was eerily similar to their start in New England: bad offense, bad defense, and horrible special teams. In the second half, however, the offense finally started moving the ball, and the defense created multiple turnovers. For the first time in a long while, the Giants showed some heart, a quality that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet but is promising nonetheless. Although the Giants ultimately lost to a division rival starting their backup QB, it wasn’t all bad. The biggest bright spot of the day was Abdul Carter. Despite dealing with off-field media issues, Carter was absolutely dominant, recording a career-high five solo tackles, three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and a sack. It was great to see him finally looking like the third-overall pick he was drafted to be. Sinc...

who will be the giants' next coach?

With the Giants on bye this week, I figured I’d mix it up a bit for this week’s blog. Ever since Daboll was fired last month, I’ve been hearing a bunch of names thrown around as potential candidates to be the next head coach of Big Blue. Below are some of the options I like and some I absolutely don’t. I’ve grouped them into three categories based on how realistic I think each candidate actually is. Group 1: Pipe Dreams Marcus Freeman- Current HC of Notre Dame With Notre Dame missing out on the College Football Playoff and opting out of a potential bowl game, the Fighting Irish are left in an interesting spot. Without getting into the discourse behind the committee's decision to leave them out, it feels possible that a change could be in order. Do I think Freeman is fired? No. Do I think he steps down to take a job in the NFL? No. But not impossible. Freeman changed the culture in South Bend, and, similar to someone I'll mention later, he holds his guys accountable. I do think ...

massachusetts massacre

Every week before the Giants’ kickoff, I tell myself, “Well, it can’t get much worse.” And every week, they prove me wrong in the most ridiculous way possible. Going into New England to face the AFC’s top seed in primetime, I didn’t think the Giants had a great chance to win, but I still expected better than what we got.  The thing that jumped out to me more than anything else was how unbelievably bad the special teams have become, and how they’ve somehow gotten worse and worse over the past few years. Not only did they allow a 94-yard touchdown return, but Younghoe Koo delivered perhaps the most egregious blunder I have ever seen on a football field. The Giants’ kicker (their third of the season, mind you) lined up for a field goal, ran toward the ball… and just didn’t kick it. He literally kicked the ground and didn't even make contact with the ball. Football was invented in 1869, and I can guarantee you that has never happened before, until now, courtesy of the New York Giants. ...
