streak snapped!

This week was the perfect ending to the Giants’ season, no matter which outcome you preferred. With a loss, Big Blue would’ve secured a top-two pick in the NFL Draft. With a win, they’d finally snap a nine-game losing streak to the rival Dallas Cowboys. When the final whistle blew, it was the latter.

The Giants routed the Cowboys 34–17 in a commanding performance, snapping not only Dallas’ nine-game winning streak in the rivalry, but also Dak Prescott’s personal reign over the Giants. Prescott had won 14 straight against the Giants dating back to his rookie season in 2016. And I don't want to hear that Dak didn't play the second half, so it didn't count. He was losing in the first half, so the streak's over in my book.

But isn’t it funny how the Giants always seem to win when it doesn’t matter? It's truly comical.

Over their last 38 games, Big Blue is 8–30, and somehow four of those eight wins have come in the final two weeks of the season, after already being eliminated from playoff contention. When draft position is on the line, and expectations are at their lowest, that’s when the Giants decide to show up.

With that said, this felt like a culture win. And I know, I've said that every time the Giants have blown their draft position, but this time it truly feels different. The Cowboys have absolutely dominated the Giants for the better part of a decade, and suddenly Jaxson Dart comes in and takes care of business. Although Dallas was down some guys, so were the Giants, and the rookie made some incredible plays.

I'm sure most of you have seen the Mahomes-like shovel pass to Daniel Bellinger for a TD, but he also made some awesome throws outside the numbers and snuck a ball through triple coverage for a Tyrone Tracy TD.

Although it was only one game, I think it’s fair to say Dart is the guy going forward — and that he can succeed even without Brian Daboll. He finishes the season with 24 total touchdowns, 2,740 total yards, and a legitimate case for Rookie of the Year.

Things are starting to look up, and honestly, just think about it: my next postgame blog might have me talking about Skattebo and Nabers again.

That said, there’s still a long road ahead. The Giants will begin interviewing head coach candidates this week, with newly fired Kevin Stefanski likely on their radar (wink wink). They’ll also have to decide whether to re-sign Wan’Dale Robinson and determine how best to use the fifth pick in the upcoming draft.

Before I wrap up, I want to say thank you for reading. This has been DomWithABlog’s most successful football season yet, and that’s because of my weekly readers.

But don’t worry, more content will be coming before September rolls around.

Talk to ya soon.

NFL MOCK DRAFT 2026

DOM'S NFL MOCK DRAFT 2026 This 2026 Draft has all the makings of a memorable one. According to multiple sources, this could be one of the most trade-heavy draft days in recent memory. Even in an already unpredictable draft, projecting trades is borderline impossible, so I’ll mostly stick to the current order, mixing in a few where it makes sense.  Let's get into it. 1. Las Vegas Raiders: Fernando Mendoza- QB, Indiana It’s become a trend in my recent mock drafts that the No. 1 overall pick feels like a consensus no-brainer, and that continues here. All signs point to Mendoza as the choice. He’s an elite pocket passer and will have the benefit of learning behind recently acquired Kirk Cousins. The real question isn’t who they choose but how long it takes before Mendoza takes over as the starter. 2. New York Jets: David Bailey- Edge, Texas Tech  Last Wednesday, the Jets canceled their top-30 meeting with Bailey, leaving people confused and leading some to believe New York could b...

Houston is a Problem

In a wild NBA weekend, the Oklahoma City Thunder won the franchise's first-ever championship, Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles, and Kevin Durant was traded to the Rockets. As crazy as it sounds, the Durant news felt more important to me as an NBA fan than Game 7. The Thunder felt like a team of destiny all playoffs long, and after Haliburton went down, it all but solidified they’d become champs. But this article is focused on the next chapter of KD's career in H-Town. Yesterday afternoon, while on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York, Kevin Durant found out he had been traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, five second-round picks, Jalen Green, and NBA “villain” Dillon Brooks. (image via theringer.com) This marks the end of the big three of Booker, Beal, and Durant in Phoenix—yet another failed superteam on KD’s résumé. But this move to Houston feels different. Durant, who admitted Houston was at the top of his preferred destination li...
