This year's NBA dunk contest was one of the best in recent memory. 4 of the leagues best dunkers faced off in Chicago last Saturday to determine who was the best at throwing it down. Pat Connaughton of the Milwaukee Bucks, Dwight Howard of the Los Angeles Lakers, Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic, and Derrick Jones Jr. of the Miami Heat, all took part in the huge event. After round 1 both Connaughton and Howard were eliminated thus advancing Jones Jr. and Gordon to the finale.

In the last round of the contest, the two superstar dunkers put on an absolute show for the thousands of fans in attendance and millions at home. Both put up multiple 50 (or perfect) dunks leaving everyone watching in awe. Broadcaster of the event, Reggie Miller, said that this past Saturday we saw two of the best dunks in history one from each of the finalists. After a tie in the last round, the contest went to a dunk off with the highest scorer winning the trophy. In this round, Derrick Jones Jr. did a windmill dunk from close to the free-throw line, while Aaron Gordon dunked over a 7' 5" Tacko Fall (pictured ), clearing his head. After this most viewers thought that Gordon had the contest in the bag but that was not the case. Neither of those dunks received a 50 but one did score higher than the other. Shockingly, Derrick Jones Jr. won the contest leaving the jaws of all the people at the event dropped.

This is the second time that Aaron Gordon has been "robbed" of a dunk contest trophy. Back in 2016 he participated in another one of the greatest dunk contests ever and lost on a double-clutch reverse to Zach Lavine. After the disappointing loss, Gordon said, "I feel like I should have two trophies". He also announced that he will no longer be participating in the dunk contest and his new goal is to win the 3-Point Contest. It is very unfortunate that we won't be able to see such a talented dunker go at it again because of the judging. Since Saturday, rumors have been floating around that former teammate of Derrick Jones Jr., Dwayne Wade, who was a judge, fixed it so that his old friend would win it all. So, in the end, we will never truly know what happened behind the scenes.

NFL MOCK DRAFT 2025

DOM'S NFL MOCK DRAFT 2025 (Image via NFL.com) 1. Tennessee Titans:   Cam Ward- QB, Miami  The Will Levis experiment in Tennessee failed last season, which led to the Titans holding the first overall pick in the draft. The team needs a QB, and Ward is the best one available. Although he may be a bit of a project, Ward has the intangibles to become a star QB in this league. I love his confidence and composure in the pocket, as well as his elusiveness when he gets free. An A+ pick for the Titans. 2. Cleveland Browns:   Travis Hunter- WR/CB, Colorado Hunter might be the best prospect the NFL has ever seen. Not only is he an elite wide receiver, but he has also become one of the top shutdown corners in all of college football. Although it's still uncertain which position he'll be drafted as, he is worthy of a top-five pick, regardless. I think he...

Houston is a Problem

In a wild NBA weekend, the Oklahoma City Thunder won the franchise's first-ever championship, Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles, and Kevin Durant was traded to the Rockets. As crazy as it sounds, the Durant news felt more important to me as an NBA fan than Game 7. The Thunder felt like a team of destiny all playoffs long, and after Haliburton went down, it all but solidified they’d become champs. But this article is focused on the next chapter of KD's career in H-Town. Yesterday afternoon, while on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York, Kevin Durant found out he had been traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, five second-round picks, Jalen Green, and NBA “villain” Dillon Brooks. (image via theringer.com) This marks the end of the big three of Booker, Beal, and Durant in Phoenix—yet another failed superteam on KD’s résumé. But this move to Houston feels different. Durant, who admitted Houston was at the top of his preferred destination li...
