Tom Takes Tampa

Earlier this week former Patriots Quarterback and NFL Legend Tom Brady announced that he would be leaving New England and signing with another team. Brady had been the QB for the Pats since the 2001 season. This news was heart-breaking for New England Patriots fans and had the whole NFL world asking where Tom would end up. In the beginning, rumor had it that Tom was taking his talents to Tennessee to play with Derrick Henry and the Titans. Soon enough those were shut down the Titans signing their current QB, Ryan Tannehill, to a 4-year extension worth $118 million. After this, the race for Brady was essentially down to two teams, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After a day or so of speculation, the news broke that Brady was likely to sign with Tampa. It is hard to believe but Tom was out of New England and ready to start the next chapter of his NFL career. Part of the reason Tom left was the lack of star power and targets on their offense in New England. Now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady will have two star receivers to throw to in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Both had excellent seasons in 2019 with over 1,000 yards receiving each. Despite their efforts, the Bucs went 7-9 and missed the playoffs. This continued their 12-year drought. Tom hopes to turn things around in Tampa and make them a contending team again. He hopes to add more weapons to the offense in addition to Evans and Godwin. Possibly influencing the Bucs to sign Antonio Brown, a former teammate of Brady, as well as newly released, former Rams running back, Todd Gurley II. I firmly believe Brady will bring the Bucs to a 6th or 7th seed wild card in 2020, but if Tampa does add Gurley, Brown or another star on offense or defense to Brady's experience they definitely have the potential to make a big splash this upcoming season.

Houston is a Problem

In a wild NBA weekend, the Oklahoma City Thunder won the franchise's first-ever championship, Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles, and Kevin Durant was traded to the Rockets. As crazy as it sounds, the Durant news felt more important to me as an NBA fan than Game 7. The Thunder felt like a team of destiny all playoffs long, and after Haliburton went down, it all but solidified they’d become champs. But this article is focused on the next chapter of KD's career in H-Town. Yesterday afternoon, while on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York, Kevin Durant found out he had been traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, five second-round picks, Jalen Green, and NBA “villain” Dillon Brooks. (image via theringer.com) This marks the end of the big three of Booker, Beal, and Durant in Phoenix—yet another failed superteam on KD’s résumé. But this move to Houston feels different. Durant, who admitted Houston was at the top of his preferred destination li...

Sin City, Win City: The Knicks Hold the Cup

THE KNICKS HAVE WON A TROPHY! Last night, the Knicks took on the up-and-coming Spurs in the championship game of the third annual NBA Cup Tournament  in Las Vegas, and walked away with hardware. Sure, not the one that everyone who bleeds orange and blue wants to hold, but you still can't stop me from celebrating! (via @nyknicks on Instagram) After carrying the Knicks to the title game while averaging 33 points per Cup game , Jalen Brunson started slow against the elite defense of Stephon Castle. While Brunson didn’t dominate the scoreboard the way he had earlier in the tournament, he still finished with 25 points and made the shots that mattered most in the fourth quarter.  With that said, this game was ultimately won by New York’s bench . Brunson summed it up perfectly in his postgame interview, "OG Anunoby, Tyler Kolek, Jordan Clarkson, Mitchell Robinson, they played their ass off. Without them, we don’t win this sh*t.”  And yeah, he's absolutely right. Down 10 i...
