can't even tank right

Leave it to the Giants to lose the must win games and win the must lose ones.

While this week's Patriots-Giants game was a clash of the NFL's 31st and 32nd best offenses, it was also a battle for a higher draft pick. The Pats came into the week just ahead of the G-Men on the draft board, meaning a win for them would knock them out of the top five and a loss would boost them all the way to the number two or three slot. The Giants were already sitting at five and a loss would get them back into the top three. And as we have discussed, with this QB class this is they year to have a top five pick.

But that may not happen on DeVito's watch.

In what was a pretty boring punt fest, the Giants prevailed once again and Tommy Touchdowns had yet another solid performance with 200 plus family members in attendance. Although he did throw for three touchdowns this time, his ability to loft the deep ball over defenders and stand in the pocket and make throws was impressive nonetheless. He found Hyatt down the sideline multiple times and was able to help the rookie receiver reach the century mark for the first time in his young career. His lone touchdown went to Isaiah Hodgins who scored and went right to his QB to do his signature celebration.

On the other hand, the defense had yet another multi-turnover game. Big Blue forced three interceptions, two from Mac Jones and one from Bailey Zappe who came in for relief of Jones. Those came from Okereke, McKinney, and Banks.

Okereke has continued to become a true leader on the defense and knock the ball out, giving opportunities to the offense week in and week out. Deonte Banks had some trouble early, yet the interceptions are starting to come slowly but surely and he has shown sparks that he can be a true number one corner.

In the end, I know this win splits the fanbase between the people who root the Giants no matter the situation and people who want them to tank and win in the long run. As someone who roots for the tank, this win frustrated me and ruined my hopes of getting Caleb Williams or Drake Maye high in this draft. But we still have five more games which could easily be five more loses, so I guess there is still hope. Meanwhile I guess we'll ride the Tommy Train until the wheels fall off.

Houston is a Problem

In a wild NBA weekend, the Oklahoma City Thunder won the franchise's first-ever championship, Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles, and Kevin Durant was traded to the Rockets. As crazy as it sounds, the Durant news felt more important to me as an NBA fan than Game 7. The Thunder felt like a team of destiny all playoffs long, and after Haliburton went down, it all but solidified they’d become champs. But this article is focused on the next chapter of KD's career in H-Town. Yesterday afternoon, while on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York, Kevin Durant found out he had been traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, five second-round picks, Jalen Green, and NBA “villain” Dillon Brooks. (image via theringer.com) This marks the end of the big three of Booker, Beal, and Durant in Phoenix—yet another failed superteam on KD’s résumé. But this move to Houston feels different. Durant, who admitted Houston was at the top of his preferred destination li...

Sin City, Win City: The Knicks Hold the Cup

THE KNICKS HAVE WON A TROPHY! Last night, the Knicks took on the up-and-coming Spurs in the championship game of the third annual NBA Cup Tournament  in Las Vegas, and walked away with hardware. Sure, not the one that everyone who bleeds orange and blue wants to hold, but you still can't stop me from celebrating! (via @nyknicks on Instagram) After carrying the Knicks to the title game while averaging 33 points per Cup game , Jalen Brunson started slow against the elite defense of Stephon Castle. While Brunson didn’t dominate the scoreboard the way he had earlier in the tournament, he still finished with 25 points and made the shots that mattered most in the fourth quarter.  With that said, this game was ultimately won by New York’s bench . Brunson summed it up perfectly in his postgame interview, "OG Anunoby, Tyler Kolek, Jordan Clarkson, Mitchell Robinson, they played their ass off. Without them, we don’t win this sh*t.”  And yeah, he's absolutely right. Down 10 i...
