when it rains it pours

This one is going to be less about the game and more about the future of the Giants, which I think is the more glaring concern at this point. Also I just don't want to talk about losing by 24 to a team that just fired their head coach, offensive coordinator, and general manager.

Just when I thought things were finally looking up for the G-Men, they somehow took a turn for the worst. Even before the injury, DJ did not look like himself. He missed a few open throws and looked scared in the pocket. It didn't seem to me he was all the way ready to play, not physically, but mentally.

Then on the last play of the first Jones dropped back and tried to evade pressure from Raiders star defensive end, Maxx Crosby. Jones planted his right leg and it awkwardly buckled and DJ went down clearly in pain. That play ended the quarter yet after jogging the sideline during commercial break #8 was back on the field. The very next play he took a shotgun snap and during his drop back it appeared as if his knee just gave out, and he just collapsed. He went back to the medical tent and after some time in there he was ruled out for the contest.

Although nothing has been confirmed as I am typing this, all signs point to a torn ACL for the Giants quarterback. Yet another tough break for Big Blue in what has already been a season from hell. But with what we thought was the franchise guy being out for the foreseeable future, what does that mean going forward?

Well, no shade to Tommy DeVito, but if he's our guy for the rest of 2023 I don't see the Giants winning more than 2-3 more games. And if that is indeed the case New York could land a top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Luckily, this draft class is extremely talented, headlined by a superb group of young quarterbacks, some of which include; Drake Maye, Michael Penix, Shedeur Sanders, and of course Caleb Williams. Williams will undoubtedly be the #1 overall pick if he doesn't return to USC, and rightfully so. He is truly one of the most talented QBs I have seen and I even made an article about him last November on why he could be the next Mahomes. But I'll talk more about him as we get closer to the draft.

As much as I hate to say it as a Daniel Jones truther, I think we have seen his last game in Giants uniform.  I have stuck up for him for years. Defending each and every fumble, pick, and bad game. I have blamed coaches, o-line play, and lack of weapons for his poor play. But I think it is just time to move on, and that's not his fault. In early 2022, Giants owner John Mara said himself, "We’ve done everything possible to screw Daniel Jones up.", and that quote still reigns true. This, unfortunately, will be what NYG fans remember from DJ during his time as Giant.  It's truly sad to think about how much this team has let him down and the fact that it just never worked out.

And with what could be a major knee injury, I think it is very possible that having a high pick in a draft like this could mean the end for Danny Dimes in New York.

Whether the Giants draft a quarterback, a receiver, or a lineman, we still have to endure the rest of the season, and what could be a VERY LONG 8 games. Hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel come April, but until then get your mock drafts ready.

NFL MOCK DRAFT 2025

DOM'S NFL MOCK DRAFT 2025 (Image via NFL.com) 1. Tennessee Titans:   Cam Ward- QB, Miami  The Will Levis experiment in Tennessee failed last season, which led to the Titans holding the first overall pick in the draft. The team needs a QB, and Ward is the best one available. Although he may be a bit of a project, Ward has the intangibles to become a star QB in this league. I love his confidence and composure in the pocket, as well as his elusiveness when he gets free. An A+ pick for the Titans. 2. Cleveland Browns:   Travis Hunter- WR/CB, Colorado Hunter might be the best prospect the NFL has ever seen. Not only is he an elite wide receiver, but he has also become one of the top shutdown corners in all of college football. Although it's still uncertain which position he'll be drafted as, he is worthy of a top-five pick, regardless. I think he...

Houston is a Problem

In a wild NBA weekend, the Oklahoma City Thunder won the franchise's first-ever championship, Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles, and Kevin Durant was traded to the Rockets. As crazy as it sounds, the Durant news felt more important to me as an NBA fan than Game 7. The Thunder felt like a team of destiny all playoffs long, and after Haliburton went down, it all but solidified they’d become champs. But this article is focused on the next chapter of KD's career in H-Town. Yesterday afternoon, while on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York, Kevin Durant found out he had been traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, five second-round picks, Jalen Green, and NBA “villain” Dillon Brooks. (image via theringer.com) This marks the end of the big three of Booker, Beal, and Durant in Phoenix—yet another failed superteam on KD’s résumé. But this move to Houston feels different. Durant, who admitted Houston was at the top of his preferred destination li...
